Coilmaster (CEO Cha Kwon-mook http://www.coilmaster.com)) made an announcement on the 5th that it has localized a metal magnetic body and a winding-integrated non-flammable power inductor used in small laptop PC・PDA.

This product (model name PSP series) is expected to reduce space and EMI compared to assembly inductors by integrating magnetic bodies and wires, unlike the existing ferrite and metal powder split-type coa and winding.

An official of the company said, "It was difficult to apply existing assembled ferrite and metal magnetic assembly products to small laptops, PDA・DC/DC converters, and servers due to their lower bias characteristics and higher height than foreign products," adding, "PSP series has solved these problems and is considering applying them to next-generation slim laptop PCs such as Samsung, LG in Korea and Airibo in Taiwan."

The company said it plans to mass-produce an integrated power inductor in November, which operates in a high current ranging from saturated current 5A to up to 60A with a footprint of 13mm・10mm・6.8mm in the footprint size of PSP series. This product has been mainly imported from Panasonic and Vishei until now, and the domestic market size is estimated to be 800,000 units per month.
